The Best and Worst of January Fashion Magazines
1. Best Color-Blocking Editorial — Dazed & Confused
Many January issues devoted a few pages to color-blocking — clothes featuring big, geometric swathes of bright color. Dazed had one of the best takes because they color-blocked the models' faces as well — and let them hold plants against the fur Prada stole. Get ready to see a lot of that stole in magazines this season, by the way.
2. Best Dress — Italian Vogue
For the girl who's always dreamed of going to a party wearing her down bedding inside out.
3. Best Alexander McQueen — Vogue
Here is Sarah Burton's debut women's runway collection for Alexander McQueen, wonderfully shot so that the clothes speak for themselves.
4. Scariest Bracelet — V
There can be nowhere spacious enough to wear that in New York without getting sued.
5. Best Menswear Editorial — GQ
This is pretty clever: Ryan Gosling poses with shadows! What do you think the day-rate for shadow modeling is?
6. Best Case for Pants — British Vogue
On the subject of pants, very pantsy pants, they are in this season, you may have heard. And Karlie Kloss makes them look pretty awesome here. Gumby legs are a good look — so "right now," so "back then"!
